How to get retatrutide in 2026: legal routes, gray market

Retatrutide is widely searched as "reta" or the "reta peptide"; the buying questions are the same whichever name a shop uses, and some list it only under a code name like "GLP-3 RT".

How do you get retatrutide legally?

You have two legal routes before approval: a Lilly clinical trial, or Lilly's single-patient expanded access program, NCT07629401 (record last updated 6 August 2026). Expanded access is free, your physician has to request it, and the eligibility bar is high. No legal route sells retatrutide to you directly.

Lilly's medical-information page sets out the expanded access criteria (reviewed 26 August 2026). All of these must apply:

The process runs through your physician. They contact the Lilly Answers Center, complete an intake form, sign a letter of agreement, apply to FDA as sponsor of a single-patient IND, get IRB approval, and take on storage, dispensing and adverse-event reporting. Lilly states that "direct to patient shipping is not available" and that product is provided "at no cost". Availability "will depend on geography, product supply" and a case-by-case review.

That bar excludes most people asking how to get retatrutide. If you have a BMI of 30 and no complications, no legal channel exists for you until approval.

When will retatrutide be approved?

Not before 2027. Lilly said on 29 September 2026 that it plans to submit a Biologics License Application to FDA in Q1 2027. A standard review from that filing places a decision in late 2027 or 2028.

Four Phase 3 trials have reported: TRIUMPH-4 in December 2025, TRIUMPH-1 in May 2026, and TRIUMPH-2 and TRIUMPH-3 in July 2026. TRIUMPH-2 was published in full in The Lancet on 29 September 2026. The numbers, and which estimand each one uses, are in our retatrutide Phase 3 results.

Retatrutide is not in shortage and cannot be compounded. FDA says so on its GLP-1 concerns page, and our 503A and PCAC analysis covers why. A clinic or pharmacy offering "compounded retatrutide" is selling something FDA has said it cannot lawfully make.

What changed for sellers in August 2026?

Two things, two weeks apart. Both target the "research use only" label that every retatrutide vendor relies on.

Lilly's six lawsuits, 12 August 2026. Lilly filed suit against six US sellers:

Update, 22 October 2026: Lilly dismissed the Aesthetic Envy case, with prejudice, on 11 September, and the Texas Peptides and Lone Star cases, also with prejudice, on 15 and 16 October. The Astra case is still open: the 2 September notice dropped Astra LLC only, and Lilly is pursuing the unidentified operator of the Astra Peptides name (corrected 22 October; we previously said the case was dismissed). On 8 October 2026 Lilly filed five more suits, in Louisiana, Texas and Arizona, for 11 in total; the defendants and dockets are in Lilly has now sued 11 peptide sellers.

In the same release Lilly said it had referred more than 200 people and entities to FDA, DOJ, state attorneys general and licensing boards, and had reported more than 14,000 websites, ads, posts and listings in over 100 countries. It also asked card companies, payment processors and shippers to cut sellers off.

The complaints are worth reading for what Lilly treats as proof of human use. The Lone Star complaint (Case 4:26-cv-06562) quotes the seller's "Peptide Calculator" and "Retatrutide Dosage Calculator", which tell users how much to "pull up in the syringe" after adding "BAC water". Lilly calls these "a step-by-step guide for human use". The Legendary and Astra complaints cite r/Retatrutide and r/Biohacking threads about switching from tirzepatide as evidence that buyers inject the product.

FDA's five warning letters, dated 24 August 2026. FDA posted letters on 1 September to Peak Performance Peptides, Royal Peptides, NuScience Peptides, Peptide Partners and Tex Peptides. Each names retatrutide. Three use code names that FDA quoted directly: "GLP-3R" (Peak Performance), "GLP-3 RT" (NuScience, Tex Peptides) and "GLP-3 Reta" (Peptide Partners). All five cite bacteriostatic water as evidence of intended human use. The full product-by-product breakdown is in FDA's August letters and Lilly's six lawsuits.

For a buyer this changes two practical things. Vendors in the US now face civil suits as well as FDA letters, so closures and sudden checkout changes are more likely. And the code-name relabel no longer works as a defence, which our GLP-3 RT explainer covers in detail.

Are card payments for peptides being cut off?

One vendor says so. Chameleon Peptides closed on 27 September 2026. A customer email quoted by compoundreview.com says its underwriting banks received Visa notices questioning whether its sales reached only research customers. We have not seen the Visa notices or the original email, so treat the reason as the vendor's own account. When a vendor drops cards for crypto or Zelle, you also lose chargeback protection.

Why are so many "local people" selling reta?

A September thread on r/Retatrutide asked exactly that: "Why/how are so many 'local people' selling reta?" (116 comments). The answer is arithmetic. A reseller buys research vials in bulk, often from overseas, and resells single vials, sometimes pre-mixed, at a markup to people who do not want to order online. The same logic sits behind "US warehouse" sellers: the stock crosses the border in bulk, so the buyer's parcel is domestic even when the powder is not. Lilly's suits name a med spa (Aesthetic Envy) and a pharmacy (Striker) next to online peptide shops, so the local channel is inside the enforcement net, not outside it. A local seller adds two risks to the ones an online vendor already carries. You usually get no batch COA tied to your vial. If they reconstitute it for you, you also inherit their handling, storage and diluent, none of which you can check.

Are pre-filled retatrutide pens real?

No retatrutide pen is approved, and Lilly states that no retatrutide medicine has been approved by any regulator. A Biohackers thread from August 2026 reported a creator-linked brand selling a $285 retatrutide pen whose label said injecting it was "strictly prohibited by law", and said the listing then vanished. We have not verified that report beyond the thread. Treat any pre-filled "reta pen" as a product of unknown content. A pen hides the liquid behind a cartridge and gives you no lot-matched COA to check.

Sold under another name: "GLP-3 RT"

Some vendors do not list retatrutide as retatrutide. It shows up as "GLP-3 RT" (and tirzepatide as "GLP-2 TRZ") — a house label, not a different compound. The listing's CAS number still reads 2381089-83-2, and the sequence is retatrutide's. FDA quoted "GLP-3R", "GLP-3 RT" and "GLP-3 Reta" as retatrutide in its 24 August 2026 letters, so the label hides nothing from a regulator. It only makes your price comparison harder. If a "GLP-3 RT" price looks unusually low or high, decode it first: see GLP-3 RT is retatrutide. Panda Peptides is another vendor that lists retatrutide only under a code name, now "Triple Receptor Agonist" (formerly "GLP-3"), and Real Peptides sells it as "GLP3-RT (Trinity-X)". Amino Club lists it as "GLP-3 (RT)", next to tirzepatide as "GLP-2 (TR)" and semaglutide as "GLP-1 (SM)". Comparing on the real compound name is the only way the per-mg table above stays honest.

Buying retatrutide in the EU

The table above is US-priced and US-shipping. EU buyers ordering intra-EU avoid the customs-seizure risk that hits US- and UK-origin parcels crossing into the bloc. CertaPeptides (Romania) lists retatrutide from EUR 94.49 with an independent Janoshik COA on a 15 mg lot — 99.344% HPLC, report #172228, verifiable on Janoshik's public portal. That is the strongest verification class for this compound. We have not placed a first-hand order, so treat it as a public-data preview, not a tested recommendation.

What to check before ordering

A short list. Do every step before placing the first order with any vendor in the table above.

• Per-batch COA published. The product page should link to a COA for the batch you are receiving, dated within the last 12 months, from an independent third-party lab (Janoshik, Liquilabs, Anresco, or equivalent). • COA verifier. Run the published COA through /tools/coa-verifier — the tool cross-references the lab's public mirror where one exists and flags any COA that does not resolve.
• Vendor audit profile. Open the vendor's /vendors/<slug>/legit page (e.g. /vendors/particle-peptides/legit) for the current verdict, the documented pros and cons, and the COA-practice score.
• Active coupons. Check /coupons before checkout — Particle Peptides carries PARTICLE10. Coupons are noted under the vendor rows above but do not re-order the table.
